Eligibilty
Attendance in an EMDR Therapy Training is limited to licensed mental health professionals, interns on a state licensing track, and second-year students in an accredited graduate program. Students and interns must receive approval for attendance.
Licensed Mental Health Professionals
Qualifying medical doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province.
Qualifying advanced practice registered nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and must be licensed to practice through their state board or province.
Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and be licensed to practice through their state board or province.
Pre-Licensed Mental Health Professionals
These are clinicians who are actively pursuing a mental health license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor. Some of these license types include associate, intern, limited, provisional, temporary and pre-license.
Qualifying pre-licensed mental health clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and must be actively pursuing a full license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor.
Graduate Students
Qualifying graduate students must be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work) or related mental health discipline. Students must have completed their core graduate academic coursework and must be in the practicum/internship portion of their graduate program. First year graduate students are not eligible.
Graduate students must be on a licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician.
EMDRIA reserves the right to refuse those individuals who do not meet the required guidelines for consideration.
Required Documentation
After completing the registration form online, please scan and email the required documentation to jen@jenshotwell.com to confirm eligibility for the training:
Licensed mental health professionals must submit a copy of their professional license that shows the expiration date.
Full-time nonprofit employees must submit a copy of their professional license that shows the expiration date and a letter on agency letterhead verifying full-time employment.
Interns/Associates on a state licensing track must submit a copy of their professional license that shows the expiration date. (This can be a pdf of your states web license) Your Supervisor must provide a letter on corporate or personal letterhead that confirms that the Intern/Associate is enrolled in their state’s appropriate licensing track and also provides the credentials and signature of the Supervisor. We will also need a copy of the supervisor's state license that shows the expiration date. (This can be a pdf of your states web license)
Graduate students must submit a graduate transcript (which can be unofficial) and a letter from their current supervisor which includes a paragraph describing the details of their internship/practicum as well as the supervisor's degree information and signature on University letterhead or supervisor's letterhead. We will also need a copy of the supervisor's state license that shows the expiration date. (This can be a pdf of your states web license) .
Training Schedule
The training is conducted over two weekends and includes ten hours of consultation in between. The ten hours of consultation will vary between one hour weekly calls and two hour sporadic calls. Consultation calls will assist in applying course material between training sessions. Consultation call dates to be determined.
Please note: full attendance on both weekends and on conference calls is required for a certificate of completion.
Certification of Completion Requirements
+Completion of entire two weekends of training
+Completion of all 10 hours of consultation
+No partial credit. Attendance at the entire training is required.
+Reading the textbook Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: Basic Principles, Protocols, and Procedures, Third Edition by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. (Guilford Press, 2017).
+Participants who begin the EMDR training must complete the entire training within 12 months from their initial start date unless there are extraordinary circumstances. This applies to trainees who begin their EMDR training after January 1, 2017.
Refund Policy
You can receive your money back up until 30 days before the start of the training . After that, there is no refund. If you need to cancel your training within thirty days then 50% of your tuition will go towards another training and 50% will be kept by Jen Shotwell, PLLC.
